A flag person on the way home from Whistler on Monday.

Also, I just wrote this in my livejournal today, along with a letter the people sending me my button parts, which should be here by now. DAMN YOU CANADA POST AND YOUR STUPID CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT THING BEING IN MISSISAUGA, how wasteful is it to send button parts from a company based in SEATTLE, all the way to SOUTHERN ONTARIO, and then back to VANCOUVER. I’m sorry for all the random capital letters, but I’m really frustrated, and broke, and now I’m apparently being very wasteful to the environment. AWESOME. Anyways, my plea is below.

Dear everyone,

If you had ever thought about ordering anything like postcards, or buttons from my shop page, or just donating to the “beer fund” which is actually not going to get used for beer, now would be an awesome time to do so. IF YOU DID DECIDE TO DONATE FIVE DOLLARS OR MORE, I WILL SEND YOU EITHER AN ORIGINAL DRAWING, A HAND PRINTED PHOTOGRAPH, OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT I HAVE MADE; EITHER IN THE MAIL, OR IF YOU’RE AROUND ME IN NEWMARKET, I WILL PERSONALLY DELIVER IT TO YOU.

Love,
dylan

Hi, so I went to Squamish, Creekside, and Whistler skateparks with Kate today!

Highlights, Squamish is AWESOME, the bowl is so smooth, and way tighter then Hastings, but is kinda laid out in a similar way (in the different, turning around type sections), but, it’s smaller, tighter, and WAY awesome. Kate also had a good time, she got up carving a wall a little bit, and I can see her getting more stoked on it when she learns new stuff, which makes me feel really good.

Creekside, I spent probably ten minutes at. Now the little bowl is REALLY ghetto, though the skatelite is new, it’s still made by skaters, and feels really DIY. The mini ramp is totally sketchy for being like two feet high or something. And watch your head, cause it’s loooooowwwwww ceilings, and I could see the coping give every time the locals came up on it. However, I totally really liked this park. First, we knew it was in the parking garage on level P3, and literally had to search for the thing, and only found it because I could hear the lovely “whhhiiirrrrrrr click, whhhiiirrrrrr click” and then we found it hidden in the corner. The bowl is small, though long, and watch out for the transition coming off the support pillar, because I didn’t and totally planted myself because I ran straight into it. Board stops, I keep going.

And I really liked the Whistler snakerun, because well, it’s pretty nice, it’s tighter then Seylynn in some sections, and more open in the right ones. I still couldn’t get out of the bowl, but I’m going to blame that on not really skating bowls for like two solid months, and that there was still snow in the bottom. Which means I slid around in the snow a couple times when I bailed. Gotta love the kneepads. Also, I could be way better at skating. In general you know?

SO, goals for the summer, frontside kickturns, getting comfortable on vert, and reliably doing axle stalls (50-50s would be nice too).

It’s really late, and I’ve skated six parks in two days. I am going to bed.
