Yeah. So yesterday was my Birthday. The only thing I wanted for my birthday was to not have a big deal made about it. But to hang out at the skatepark, skate until I couldn’t see anymore, and then get drunk at the park. I’m stoked my roommates April and Reilly were there to skate/hang out with me.
MISSION SUCCESS. Also, I can do frontside airs like right at the coping now, so I’m really stoked. I get no style points, as evidenced by the photo above that Reilly took for me. I also have a video of me skating the full pipe, but it’s so dark you can’t see anything hardly. I also had one of the frontside air, but again, so dark, and youtube really fucks things up when they compress videos. But I promise you, I was off the wall in that photo, and keep in mind I was just starting to come down in there! Which means I am stoked.
Okay, well. Now I need to pack up my SLR and get down to a park where there is going to be a bicycle race starting this afternoon. I’m taking photos for a zine that a pal is going to be starting up. And clearly I’ll keep information coming as it materializes, but I think he said he’s looking to have the first issue in like, August, or something.
Tucker backside feeble pop-over on this railing by my house. Scanning negs kinda sucks dudes. Making prints is way better. I feel that this is a little too mish-mash in whatever colour cast it’s taking on. At least when I scan prints I have a print to match it to. I feel like I’m kind just making things up scanning negs. Though, I did learn something about scanning negs today, as a result the scan you see is much more tonally rich than the first efforts were.
I’m hoping I get to scanning some more of the van-dyke stuff I have from the school year at home tonight (I am scanning and writing this from my school right now), and I’m planning sooner or later on putting together some kind of “State of the Nation” address on my life. I feel really good about a lot of stuff right now, and I’d like to put it all in one place.
Oh, and for next time I shoot some skateboarding, might try another stop under for the background, might try not including the tripod leg (mind you, it’s not on other frames, but this is the best frame?), and I think I might be a little late on the timing? I like how close he is to the rail’s wood bit, cause that’s gnarly, but I feel as if I caught him a little into the pop-over. Opinions?
Beth, with a disaster at Hastings. So basically I spent all this last week skateboarding. Well that’s not entirely true. I’ve only had one day off in the past like two weeks, but I’ve been skating everyday after work and it’s awesome. I’m going to be skating as soon as I get home after updating this post, and skating all day tomorrow, and shooting pictures with the one and only Warren Jones in the morning. Brendon is going to lend me his 4×5 for the week, and hopefully I’ll get some sweet skate action going on with that as well. The only sad thing about all the shooting I’ve been doing is that I don’t have time to print properly right now, and also the darkroom at the school is currently in a big mess! (which is coincidently, where I’ve been working this week (aside from MEC) trying to sort out the mess) In other working news, as of yesterday I’m officially licensed to be a bike courier. Which took way too long, and the opening at Flash couriers has apparently been filled, but I’ve been told there may be another opening in the next two weeks, until then…anyone know courier companies looking for a new guy?

SWEET. I’m pretty stoked I’m learning these. Speaking of which, this post’s text has sucked. It’s because I’m looking out the window at my school and the weather is pretty fucking beautiful. I’m going to go skate.

SKATEBOARDING HOORAY
Undergrad show at my school tonight, lots of my pals are involved! Okay, really I am pals with like, six dudes from photo or something. But you should support them! Hurrah!
And if that’s not your thing then some face melting?
TRH is playing down at the Astoria, they are pretty darn good. Lots of facemelting, which is always a good thing. And there are some other bands that Reilly assures me are pretty good times.

Rolling perspective, starting at Antisocial, and then rolling to Livestock, and then later to the Sweatshop.
I’m going to start at the Undergrad and head to Antisocial to skate around some. Probably going to be making an early night because I work early, and you know: LAMER.
