BEFORE/AFTER

From early May above, and from a few days ago. I’m pretty stoked, because that second one is just JUST over the coping. I need to learn some new deals though. Also, I want to get a picture of an edger in the deep end. Maybe when Jason or Brendon is back?

Pretty Stoked

NO STYLE POINTS

So I’m pretty stoked on this here picture, my friend Jesse James Taylor took it yesterday at the Bonsor skate competition. There was a street comp, and a bowl jam. When I got there I stupidly thought “there’s only 11 or so people in the bowl section? I’ll totally sign up, what the hell”. Turns out, it was the gnarliest ten dudes I could possible skate with. Yup, I was way over my head in their ability, but seriously, I had so much fun it was insane. I was in the bowl with three other dudes at the same time, and we were all skating as hard as we could. The guys from down south (whose names I can’t remember, though I think it was Jesse, Ellis (who was just doing really casual Miller Flips (wtf?)), and a dude who went by Skeletor? I don’t even know all their names) just showed up to shred. Seriously the bowl talent from the south is incredible, and I can’t believe more kids here aren’t trying to get down like that.

Anyways. I’m really tired now today, because I skated again after work to test out the new wheels I got in the product toss after the contest. Going to Horseshoe Bay park for the first time on Wednesday, and I’m pretty stoked.

up? really?

Poached this from YouWillSoon. It’s pretty epic.

As for me posting actual photography content? I’ve been really busy working all the time, and skating to get on that. Though I shot some photos with skatepal Grant on Saturday. Hopefully I didn’t muck the lighting up too much and they look nice.

THREE TIMES THE LADY

So today my friends Beth and Jesse came with me to Seylynn. I finally pumped all the way back up to the top, and went back down (and then did it twice more, making three times both ways, no pushing). Basically I’m really stoked. I have a couple videos of Beth and Jesse as well. But I’m pretty tired so I’ll put them up sometime later this week.

We also went to Kirkstone park while in North Van to meet a couple friends of Beth’s. I didn’t stop skating the whole time I was there, which is a little surprising since I couldn’t get a hang of the coping (it was making me pretty angry). But I enjoyed it, lost a game of skate in five tricks, and did frontside airs (early grabs yes) somewhere other than Bonsor.

Also of note is that this video pretty much sums up my feelings of why Vancouver is important to me. In video form. Hopefully soon I’ll have photographs that also illustrate this.

PREPARE TO SWOON

song 1

Ladies and gents, I’m a bit late on the bandwagon for linking this up (Katie tipped me off that Kay is on her MySpace again). But seriously. Come on now. How good is Kay for your ears? The answer is she is the best thing that ever happened to them. Lurk her MySpace and you’ll discover she’s getting ready to put out some recorded sounds, which everyone should get on about getting their own copy of. Also, give her moneys and book her shows and stuff. You know, support local artists friends! That’s what it’s about.

Speaking of which, I’m about to go check out my pal Deniz’s show Spirit Houses, which is apparently here in New West. I have no idea why everyone uses facebook. It’s really frustrating, and I really have no idea if those links will work and for how long.

WELL. Go listen to Kay’s music over and over again.
