I can’t say much more about this photo other than it was epic-supergood-funtimes. Mostly because I need to run to work because I will be late if I don’t go quickly.
Also, I guess I came about this because I was asked to submit to the Vancouver Bicycle Film Art Festival. And I need to get my editing into gear so I know what I need to print! More on that later! K BYE.

Maggie sitting on my desk while I’m trying to clean my desk and get some things done earlier today.
The record player right there is pretty much making me be productive. Just put on a record and go! The one that is playing while she’s there is Neil Young and the Shocking Pinks. I found it at the flea market two weekend ago when Jason was in town. I bought the album largely because the cover photography is amazing. It’s a hand coloured print of Neil jamming on this lovely hollow body guitar (that’s about as much as I know about guitars). Neil’s suit and the background have been coloured expertly pink, the guitar’s accents yellow-gold. And to finish it all off, they made the cover with the printed rebate showing (exposing the photographer as hassy guy). The rear cover to the album is a photograph treated equally to the first, but just of his guitar laying against the wall. It’s really a nice piece of photographic design I guess, and you can tell that the rear cover was an afterthought, picked up off the contact sheet (or at least that’s how I see it). The inner sleeve is a close face profile, the background coloured pink with teal and black splatters. The photography is credited to Dennis Keeley, and a quick google search pointed me to his portfolio site. It’s a nice selection of things, and if you go to the end of his portraits portfolio (it’s a flash site, so no linking direct sorry!) you’ll see PeeWee Herman in front of that speckled backdrop, hand tinted in the same fashion as Everybody’s Rockin’.
Well since I went off on a tangent I actually brought down my productivity on getting all my clutter off my desk (and everywhere else). So I’ll get back to it. But here’s Maggie again sitting in the window.

Jeremie a while ago at Leeside. Hey. So soon this site is going to be moved over to a new address. That new address is SHREDorDEAD dot CA.
I don’t have much else to say right now! Check in later though, I’m going to scan some Polaroids.

Nate Lang bombing Georgia Street Viaduct to Main Street in Vancouver. I was meeting up with Nate to head on up to AntiSocial to buy some new wheels. And had this perfect vantage point to get a couple shots (there is a sequence (although a short one)) of Nate just ripping across the bridge. I would be more than glad to post the whole sequence, but seeing as my access to the high quality scanner is currently unavailable, this (really terrible) scan is all I have. And I’m not posting a bunch of bad scans.
That said, I’ll be retiring my old flatbed scanner. This neg was actually a test to see if I could use it for passable results, and I’m definitely not stoked on the overall lack of sharpness among other things. It has, however, cemented the idea that I need to get a new high quality scanner of my own. I have my eye on one that will allow me to scan all formats including up to 8×10 transparencies. But I just need another month before I can make a ridiculously expensive purchase in order to go crazy on producing images. Images for you to look at.
And on that… if you like the kinds of photos I take, I’m going to offer up a grab bag. That is, I’m going to say that if you want to help me attain what I need to start really producing photography, or if you just want some nice prints, I’m going to say that I will mail you a set of 3-5 prints depending on size and availability (most of them small prints) for the low low price of 10$ shipping (a stamp and envelope) included. Of course, ten bucks is a suggested “donation” and if you feel like being really generous, I’ll in return be generous in the selection of prints being mailed! Anyways. Shoot me an email dylandaviesphoto (at) gmail (dot) com and we can talk about it okay? Okay.
Oh. And if you’re in Vancouver, and you skateboard, THIS THING is finished. And it is THE BEST FUCKING THING EVER. I’m so stoked. Made it over the stairs, and slashing in the deepend. And little f/s airs. Now I need to learn me some new tricks..

Jeff Curry and Peck before the Champion’s League race. So how about those Riots in Toronto hey? Hope all my pals from home are safe! (or maybe at least got some quality looting done? (j/k looting is pretty stupid)).
On another note, I bought a record player last week. It’s one of those ones that will output via USB to put it on your computer and consequently to your iPod (though I have yet to actually do this). So far I’ve bought two new albums, and a handful of others from flea markets and second hand shops. It’s pretty rulin’ so far, and I’d take recommendations for listening as I build my collection.
Time to go to Templeton for breakfast at one o’clock and then to Greek Day in Kits.
Oh PS: I’ve yet to get a spam filter working properly/delete the THOUSANDS of spam comments I’ve gotten since I was neglecting the blog. Sooooo, if you comment it might take a while to pop up.
